Are you a techy?
Incorporating information technology in nursing can be a daunting task. For those nurses who want nothing to do with any form of computer, it is nearly impossible. The onus falls upon the technologically savvy nurse on the unit. Those that detest new tech believe that those of us that are ‘techies’ really love computers. “Get her to do it, she’s good at that”. The buck gets passed constantly—I feel it is completely unfair. For the profession to move forward, everyone must be on the same page. The passing of duties and responsibilities must stop. It can breed contempt or resentment on the unit. This can lead to a stressful and unpleasant work environment. Everyone has the potential, lets tap into it!!

Hello and welcome to my blog

Hello everyone, my name is Maggie and I can’t believe I’m blogging! I never imagined I would make a connection between blogging and nursing. Nursing is about learning new and exciting things; blogging is definitely new and exciting. I’ve always thought of myself as somewhat computer literate. Blogging, however, is topic I know very little about. I have learned so much this past week about the world of blogging and I’m really enjoying it. The possibilities with blogging and nursing are endless. Sharing of information in nursing contributes to the growth and development of our profession. Blogging provides gateway to information. One can share new ideas, practice guidelines, books, and stories. Sharing of information is a different way of approaching learning. I look forward to sharing with all of you.
